Static vs Dynamic

In regards to static-dynamic concepts, there are many dynamic areas that I feel comfortable utilizing. I am getting more comfortable using blogs :0)
I need to still learn about embedding certain types of files into certain websites. I have a drive inside of me to figure it out, even if it takes two hours!
I tend to think static concepts are a bit boring...maybe because I am more of a visual learner and my ADHD kicks in, making it hard for me to concentrate on things I can not interact with.

Strategies

The items listed on my chart involve 3 ways I believe collaboration occurs personally and educationally within the life of the learner.
Advantages to them are;
Increased communication among members of a network.
Socially based which is key in collaboration because humans are social by nature.
Helps the learner feel a sense support throught the community.

Assessing Collaboration

Assessment of collaboration can be a challenge. Siemens (2010) suggests making changes to assessment models from an individual to a group process as well as changes to participatory pedagogy. Students can be assessed on contributions and feedback from classmates. A learning management system may also be in place to monitor students activities. Participation in a learning community is essential to the success of the group.
Palloff and Pratt (2007) suggest the feedback and assessments of the learners to be done with consideration of levels/skills of the learner. Personally, I feel that this would be a hard thing to interpret on part of the instructor.
If a student has a clear understanding of an online environment as well as clear expectations, the choice not to participate would result in a lower assessment grade. The instructor is the one who needs to address the situation with the student and grade accordingly. Assessment would be altered to include only output of what the student produces and nothing more or less.

Evolving Distance Education

In evolving distance education Michael Simonson believes that sound instructional design lies heavily with creating a variety of learning experiences using appropriate technology which includes having the instructor involved with the structure and design. Thus making equivalent learning experiences for all learners.
While Moller, Huett, Foshey and Coleman all agree in an evolution of sound I.D. , they speak and give emphasis t0 the quality of the education by providing training to the instructor as well as providing them with a support system.
Simonson is creating a whole new process while the others are looking at each part of the process and discussing how to improve upon them. While the end result will be to evolve the field this is their only comparison.
I agree with Michael Simonson, I believe that in order for something to evolve it needs a fresh new approach and this is exactly what Simonson is referring to in his Equivalency Theory. Trying to improve on things that don't work usually lead to other issues in the process.
